Writing with the MysticsÂ
with Mirabai Starr
September 10-14, 2026 | Taos, New Mexico
Feast on the poetry of the mystics across the spiritual traditions, reclaim your everyday life as sacred and write from the holy ground of your lived experienceÂ
Discover Writing as a Spiritual PracticeÂ
You are a mystic and your writing is sacred.
Gather with us in person in magical Taos, New Mexico, to feast on the poetry of the mystics across the spiritual traditions and step into your own mystical mastery. Drawing on the authority of your own life, reclaim the sacred nestled in the ordinary.
Join award-winning author Mirabai Starr in the luminous high desert of Taos, where the veils between the sacred and the everyday grow thin.
Through poetry, presence, and courageous truth-telling, we'll gather in circle to explore writing as a spiritual practice and your life as holy ground. In addition to bountiful writing practice in response to evocative prompts, we will read poems and compose them, harvesting the longing, wisdom and authenticity of your own spiritual passion. Joyful movement and sacred singing ground your mystical explorations in the temple of your body.
Through guided writing rituals, contemplative practices, and soul-deep connection, you'll:Â
- Loosen the grip of perfection and let your authentic voice rise
- Unearth the sacred stories buried in your everyday life
- Polish your free writes into poems that shimmer with truth
- Share your words in a circle of fierce tenderness and trust
- Weave a rich basket of writing to carry forward
- Remember that your ordinary life is enough to begin
"This retreat cracked me open to a deeper level of writing, one that reconnected me with the written word. It's like it unblocked all of these things that were getting in the way of my voice."
— Manny F.

 The Wild Heart TeamÂ
 Willow BrookÂ
Willow's morning movement ignites devotion for the body as a sacred vessel of life through rhythmic movement, connected breath, chanting and meditation.
She weaves chants and sacred song from many traditions into our retreat space, offering a deeply devotional and inclusive experience. Co-founder of Wild Heart, she brings a background in interspiritual education, embodiment, and creative ritual. With love and grounded presence, she helps participants reconnect with their voice and body as vehicles for healing and joy.
"Willow is indeed a tree of strength and grace. She has a way of creating order without hindering flow and spontaneity. She was a leader, and she was also a sister, allowing herself to see and be seen. Most of all, as I watched her beaming face leading us in song, unselfconscious and full of love, my own childlike joy in music-making was given back to me."
— Christa W.
"Willow's longing and devotion is healing and connecting to the power of the songs."
— Karen M.
