 Your Wanting Is HolyÂ
Patriarchal religion taught us to transcend our desires. The feminine path invites us to sanctify them.
Your wanting is holy. Your body is divine. Your longing for union, for justice, for beauty, for transformation—all of it is sacred fire. What if your deepest desires are not distractions from the spiritual path, but the path itself? What if the ache in your heart, the yearning in your belly, the fierce longing for a more just and beautiful world—what if all of this is the divine calling you home?
These are potent times, oozing with promise for a revolution of our collective soul. Patriarchal structures are losing their 5,000-year-old grip on our spiritual imagination. In their place, timeless feminine wisdom is flowering, spreading its intoxicating fragrance and ripening into vital nourishment for people of all genders. This female-shaped transmission activates our connection with the earth as a beloved relative, reminds us that we belong to each other, and eradicates the very concept of otherness.
One of the casualties of the old religious paradigm was the way it disparaged the body. It is time to name the body as the domain of the divine. We are cultivating the holy ground of our wanting. We are renewing our trust in the wisdom of our bodies and the beauty of its appetites. We are blessing our feelings, our emotions, our wishes for peace and justice. And we are reclaiming the power of longing for union with God.
In this virtual course, we invite you to set aside the endless to-do list and take refuge in a community dedicated to lifting the sacred feminine and affirming the sovereignty of our deepest desires. We will explore everything from the erotic to the activist, and engage in practices from the quietly contemplative to the wildly expressive. Through listening to stories from mystics and goddesses, writing in response to evocative prompts, sharing in small groups and in full circle, singing to the divine and moving our bodies with sweet liberation, we harness the power of desire to transform not only our individual lives but to shift the soul of the world.
 Our Journey TogetherÂ
Over six immersive sessions with Mirabai, we'll explore the terrain of sacred longing through the wisdom of feminine mystics and goddesses across traditions. Each gathering weaves together teaching, embodied practice, contemplative writing, and devotional song.
Session 1: Fire and Water
Rabia Basri & Tara
We begin with the paradox of desire itself—the burning fire of longing and the cooling waters of surrender. Through the 8th century Sufi saint Rabia and the Buddhist goddess Tara, we explore how sacred wanting can both ignite and quench our spiritual thirst.
Session 2: Spider Grandmother
Claire of Assisi & Ixchel
We enter the web of connection, discovering how desire weaves us into the fabric of all beings. Claire's radical poverty and Ixchel's creative power reveal how our longings connect us to the divine feminine's endless creativity.
Session 3: Sacred Sorrow
Mary & Kwan Yin
We honor grief as a form of love, exploring how our deepest sorrows are inseparable from our deepest desires. The compassion of Mary and Kwan Yin teaches us that the broken heart is the open heart.
Session 4: Praying with Your Feet
Etty Hillesum & Sophia
We discover activism as devotion, exploring how our desire for justice becomes prayer in action. Etty's radical faith during the Holocaust and Sophia's embodied wisdom show us that longing for a better world is itself holy work.
Session 5: Your Holy Imagination
Lalla & Saraswati
We unleash the creative power of desire through the wild poetry of Kashmir's naked yogini Lalla and the artistic fire of Hindu goddess Saraswati. Our imagination becomes a tool for transformation.
Session 6: Exquisite Yearning
Teresa of Avila & Song of Songs
We culminate in the most intimate desire of all—longing for union with the divine. Through Teresa's ecstatic visions and the erotic poetry of Song of Songs, we embrace spiritual desire in all its intensity.
