The Sacred Art of GrievingÂ
with Mirabai Starr
March 21-22, 2026 • Free Online Event
75 minutes each day
In a world that rushes to "fix" grief, what if your heartbreak is actually sacred territory beckoning you into deeper intimacy with life?
 Your Grief Is SacredÂ
Grief is a natural response to heartbreak. We have all experienced loss, and whether someone you love died, you are navigating a breakup, health diagnosis, job loss, or any other life-shattering change, your loss is meaningful and worthy of reverence.
In a world where global conflicts rage, environmental destruction accelerates, and political divisions fracture families and communities, our personal and collective grief can become pathways to deeper connection rather than sources of competition or comparison. The grief we carry for democracy under strain, for species facing extinction, for the pace of change that leaves us breathless—this too is sacred territory.
Over two days, we'll explore grief not as something to overcome, but as holy ground that invites us into authentic awakening.
If Any of These Questions Resonate With You, We Welcome YouÂ
- Have well-meaning people in your life given you the message that you should be "over it" by now?
- Do you feel like you need to hide your grief because it seems to make other people uncomfortable?
- Are you troubled by the sense that you are grieving the wrong way?
Have you sensed the fragrance of the sacred rising from the fire of your loss? - Has loss reconfigured your priorities and you don't know how to meet these changes?
- Do you worry that your personal grief seems insignificant compared to global suffering?
- Are you carrying grief for the state of our world alongside your personal losses?
 Are You Ready To...Â
- Unmask false and harmful messages about the grief process?
- Affirm that you are not doing it wrong and that your personal timeline is just right?
- Rest in a brave place to get real about how you feel?
- Befriend grief as an intimate friend and wise teacher?
- Experience the blessing of exposing your tender heart in a safe space?
- Discover how your personal losses and grief for the world can nourish rather than compete with each other?
- Understand how collective trauma and personal loss weave together in the sacred fabric of our times?
Join Us for Two Days of Sacred Truth-TellingÂ
Day 1: Knocking on the Door of the Sacred
Friday, March 21, 2026
We begin by lovingly dismantling the myths our grief-averse culture may have instilled in us, such as the belief that there is a 'right' and 'wrong' way to grieve or that there is some kind of correct timeline for your loss and that one day you will be over it, rather than embracing grief as a natural and ever-unfolding response of the heart. We enfold the pain of the world into our broken-open hearts, and tune to the fragrance of the sacred rising from the fire of suffering.
Day 2: Entering the Holy Ground of Grief
Saturday, March 22, 2026
Having unmasked the notion that to be spiritual means to be above grief and loss, and that transcending our authentic experience of heartbreak is somehow proof of how enlightened we are, we accept the invitation to bless the full spectrum of the human condition as an opportunity for awakening. We step through the door of our tender and curious hearts and befriend the mystery. In honor of who or what we are grieving, we rekindle the power of love-longing and rededicate our spiritual lives, grounded in authentic, embodied experience.
What to Expect During Our Time TogetherÂ
Practice
We will be weaving a basket of potent teachings, guided meditation, writing practice, poetry and chanting, and reclaiming the landscape of loss as holy ground. Through these practices, we'll discover how our personal grief can expand our capacity to hold the pain of the world.
Community
Connect with the vast circle of grieving people who long for a space where we can enter into an authentic grieving process in our private community group. In community, we learn that our individual and collective sorrows are not mutually exclusive but can actually transform each other.
